Artbook frenzy ! Tim Burton, Tim Walker & co ...

With 2 "old" amazon.com orders recently brought home by friends who live in the US, I find myself surrounded by many incredible artbooks all begging for my attention... I thought I'd share some of these with a few quick posts on my posterous blog :

- the Tim Burton artbook is pretty amazing - I don't like his more "flashy" illustrations but the book is just huge and filled to the brim with many sketches from his various movies and personal projects. Definitely worth ordering (it's apparently not released in stores).

- Tim Walker, a  great photograph who actually did a very interesting series of shots around Tim Burton and his worlds, also has a mammoth book of his own ("Pictures"). I'm not exagerating, it is obscenely big ! Walker is incredibly at ease when reinventing fairy tales  - I just love his renditions of the "princess and the pea" and other traditional stories. Have a look at these !

- Another couple of very talented photographers, in a different style : the ParkeHarrison brothers. Their first book, "the Architect's brother", was an eerily beautiful collection of sepia photographs with a steampunk / dreamy mood, sometimes reminiscent in a way of Terry Gilliam's Brazil. They have released a second book, "Counterpoint", which is also gorgeous - though in color this time. Their website is worth a visit !
